CSTR Included in DataCite Metadata Schema
2024-12-25
Metadata serves as a critical mechanism for the open sharing of scientific data, providing researchers with essential pathways to understand, utilize, and share data resources. In recent years, various metadata standards and specifications—such as the Dublin Core Schema and the DataCite Metadata Schema—have been introduced both domestically and internationally. These efforts aim to standardize and normalize metadata content, thereby providing a reliable foundation for open scientific data sharing.
As one of the key infrastructures in open science, the CSTR has long placed strong emphasis on the development of metadata specifications, particularly on establishing mappings between CSTR and other metadata standards. This work supports the standardization of scientific data management within China.
On December 9, 2024, the DataCite Post Blog published "Announcing DataCite Metadata Schema 4.6", detailing updates in the upcoming DataCite 4.6 release. Notably, CSTR—as a widely used persistent identifier in China—has been officially included in the relatedIdentifierType list of DataCite Schema 4.6. This integration establishes an association between CSTR and DataCite DOIs, further advancing the global sharing and interoperability of scientific data.
